Raising The Pro Bono Bar

Raising the Pro Bono Bar is an annual event that offers new lawyers and articling students an opportunity to learn about pro bono initiatives at various clinics and programs in Alberta. Attendees have an opportunity to network with colleagues, members of the judiciary, managing partners and lawyers who are making the difference in the community. In 2013, Raising the Pro Bono Bar events have taken place in Calgary (February 28) and Grande Prairie (April 11). We look forward to working with Edmonton Community Legal Centre (September 26) and Central Alberta Community Legal Clinic (date to be decided) to host Raising the Pro Bono Bar events in the fall of 2013.

Calgary, February 28, 2013: Thank you to the Honourable Jonathan Denis, QC (PC), Minister of Justice and Solicitor General who provided the keynote address for the Calgary Raising the Pro Bono Bar Event, which took place on February 28, 2013.

Grande Prairie, April 11, 2013: Congratulations to Mr. Chad Sawatsky, Volunteer of the Year with Grande Prairie Legal Guidance. Chad has been a tireless volunteer with GPLG and goes above and beyond regular clinic hours to help his clients. He is courteous, professional and ensures all legal questions are answered and the client is satisfied. Both GPLG staff and clients are very appreciative of Chad's attention to detail and positive attitude.
