About Pro Bono Law Alberta

Pro Bono Law Alberta (PBLA) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting access to justice by creating opportunities for the legal community to provide free legal services to Albertans in need. We work collaboratively with legal professionals, community organizations, and stakeholders to develop and support pro bono programs across the province.


Role Overview

PBLA is seeking a dynamic and organized Engagement Coordinator to lead volunteer engagement efforts across Alberta. This role is central to recruiting and onboarding legal professionals, maintaining strong relationships with volunteers and partners, and supporting training and program development. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder with a passion for access to justice and a knack for managing details.


Key Responsibilities


Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to attract lawyers, law students, and legal professionals to PBLA programs

  • Coordinate onboarding processes including orientation, training schedules, and volunteer documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer engagement and participation

Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, fostering long-term engagement and satisfaction

  • Build and maintain relationships with law firms, legal associations, and community partners

  • Organize appreciation initiatives and feedback mechanisms to enhance volunteer experience

Training & Program Development

  • Assist in planning and delivering volunteer training sessions and materials

  • Collaborate with PBLA staff and stakeholders to refine and expand pro bono programs

  • Support evaluation and continuous improvement of volunteer initiatives

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, law, communications) or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint

  • Experience with client relationship management (CRM) or volunteer management software is an asset

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment
